Strong Snuff Stuff!
This story is truly high quality writing. The high quality brings the horrific aspects acroos that much better. It's like reading a sexually explicit 1984.I might add more to this review later, it has blown me away that much, and I have to think about it some more! (10/10)

The author is obviously a well practiced professional writer, probably journalism rather than technical writing and the difference shows.
Why not a ten? A truly great story should always have an unexpected twist or two to give that bit of humor or insight. Read the crucifixion piece "Annia" by this same author and ponder the nuance of the ending. That is the difference between a ten and a nine.
Actually the Chinese have been harvesting organs (mostly kidneys but some hearts) from executed criminals for some years. It has been stated that the practice has stopped. But with with ten thousand executions per year and the hand of lucre heavy on the land, who knows? Currently in India the poor, mostly women, are paid a hundred dollars or so to donate a kidney. I hope that Attorney General Ashcroft and Vice President Cheney do not read stories on this site!

i have just finished reading this story, and, amazingly, i'm *crying*!! that has never happened to me before when reading from this forum...a fantastic story (snuff is usually not my 'thing'), written with professional quality, and a chillingly contemporary feel to it (1984 in 2004...); although not sexually arousing, it was frightening and involving, and i recommend it highly... (10/10)

Horror of Horrors! "The Abbattoir" begins with a description of privatization, the JFA, Inc., etc. that reads like something straight out of the current administration. Somehow though, the scene shifts and there no longer is any talk of JFA-ers and more of the condemned and their ways of execution.
A finely written story with strong content for those so inclined. (8/10)
